Last day to enter my year long blogoversary contest!

Just a reminder to everyone that today is the last day to leave a comment for the chance to win the year long blogoversary contest I'm having. After today you can still enter the draw each month for the "minor" prize so don't forget to leave a comment each month. Take a look at the original post for the rules and info.

I will post the year long winner, as well as the monthly winner, late tomorrow as I will be a little busy with work and school going back.

Patchwork is finished

No Wednesday WIP today - I have a finish instead! I'm not sure whether I'll leave my details on there or frog it yet. Opinions?

  • Name of the design is "Patchwork"
  • Chart is another freebie from Elizabeth Almond and can be found here

  • Thread is DMC satin thread in two shades of blue as well as black DMC cotton
  • Stitch count is 57 x 57 - yes it is a square, not sure why it doesn't look it
  • Started on January 20th 2013
  • Completed on January 30th 2013

My 3rd finish of 2013! I tend to start the year with a bang and end with a fizzle. Here it is:

  • Started on January 18th 2013
  • Completed on January 20th 2013

My Second Finish of 2013

"Let it Snow" is completed, and I've even started the final finishing of it. I can't post a pic though until I reveal it over at 123 stitch. I've now made a start of "Lilac Time", a quick freebie design by Elizabeth Almond. I started on a lilac opalescent evenweave but it was too soft and floppy to hold the stitches properly. I was in a rush to start so picked up a scrap of white aida I had and I'm using that. I haven't used aida for ages, it feels very stiff but I'm not using a frame - don't have any small enough - so it's easy enough to hold it in my hand.

Oh, and I bought this felt applique kit before Christmas because it looked cute, and maybe even do-able. Who wants to take bets on if/when I'll finish it?

Keep Friends Close At Christmas Is Finished

I put the final stitches into this last night. It needs a good wash and iron but I was keen to post a pic. Here it is:

  • Name of the design is "Keep friends close at Christmas" without the wording
  • Chart is designed by Ursula Michael for Imaginating
  • Fabric is "snowflake frame" 28 count lugana from sunny dyes fabrics
  • Thread is DMC cotton
  • Stitch count is 100 x 151
  • Started on November 22nd 2012
  • Completed on January 15th 2013

I'm now starting on this design:
It is part of a monthly freebie challenge on the message board at 123 stitch. Every month, one of the members - Honeybee - will post a link to a small free design to stitch in any way you like. At the end of the month we all post pics of our different finishes, then we can add them to a picturetrail album I set up. Therefore I'm keeping the details of what fabric and threads I'm using to myself until the big reveal!

Oh, and it's my son's birthday today - he turns 11. Have a great day baby!

Happy Un-Birthday

It's a little premature, but Happy Birthday to my baby - he turns 11 next week. We have managed to pin down a time, date and place to get together with my family to celebrate and today is the day. It's never easy to do between everyone's school/work/activities/other commitments. My sister works weekends so that makes it extra hard.
Anyway, DS requested a caramel mud cake which I've made a few times before. However this time it didn't quite cook through all the way which thankfully I discovered as I cut it in half to sandwhich some whipped cream in the middle. So I scooped the soggy stuff out, added cream, then iced it in butter cream icing. Hopefully no-one can tell ;-)

WIP Wednesday 9/1/2013

Yeah, yeah, I know it's Thursday but I think it's best I post first thing Thursday instead of last thing Wednesday as I've generally stayed up late stitching and the last thing I want to do is head to the scanner or camera and post to my blog before I hit the sack. Therefore WIP Wednesdays will now be posted on Thursdays. Makes sense to me!
Anyway, just to see my progress, here's where I was at on Friday 28/12/2012. Taken with my scanner:
Then a bit less than a week later on Wednesday 5/1/2013. Another scanner pic.:
And here we are on Wednesday 12/1/2013 - this one is a picture from my camera:
I'm hoping to be done and dusted before another Wednesday/Thursday rolls around.

WIP Wednesday - and it's my blogoversary today!

Yes, I know it's technically Thursday but this is my progress as of Wednesday 2/1/2013. Don't hold me to it, but I'm hoping to post a pic of my current project each Wednesday just to see the progress I have made, or lack thereof.

It's Almost My Blogoversary! Let's Have a Contest

First things first:
Wow, apparently I've been blogging since 2009! Who knew I had so much stuff to say? Tomorrow is the big day and I've decided to have a contest. I may just have stolen this particular idea from a certain member - Teal - of 123 stitch message board. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all ;-) Anyway, it's a contest that keeps on giving - all year long in fact. The idea is that the grand prize winner gets not just one prize, but 12! One for every month of the year, sent at the end of each month. I am feeling so full of unwanted stash generous, that I will throw in 12 minor prizes, a prize for a different person every month. Don't get too excited, the prizes won't be all that grand, just a little stitchy something. If you don't like it - after all we all have very different tastes, mine more "different" than normal it seems - I'm happy for you to sell it, give it away, or trade it for something you will use. OK, on to the rules:
** You must be a follower of my blog to enter.
** You must leave a comment on any of my posts in a particular month to be eligible for a minor prize at the end of that month. The grand prize winner will need to have left a comment in January as the winner will be chosen on the first of Feb.
** I must be able to contact you in some way if you're the winner, so please make sure I can do so through your own blog or else leave your email address in the comments section.
** The grand prize winner will be excluded from the minor prize draw each month.
** Once you have won a minor prize, you will be ineligible to win another. It spreads out the fun and prizes that way.
** That's it!
Happy 4th blogoversary!
